During her short, 19 year life, ``Iberia`` experienced numerous problems, including collisions with other ships, frequent machinery breakdowns, electrical malfunctions and fuel leaks. She was taken out of service in April 1972, the first of P&O's post-war passenger ships to be withdrawn, as a result of her history of poor mechanical performance
