The original Pride of Baltimore was commissioned this day in 1977.
She was a reproduction of a 19th Century Baltimore clipper topsail schooner made famous as a nimble commerce trader and privateer in the War of 1812.
On May 14, 1986, she was lost at sea after sailing more than 150,000 nautical miles over nine seasons, and her captain and three crew perished. The remaining eight sailors drifted in a life raft for four days before being found and rescued by the crew of a Norwegian tanker about 250 miles north of Puerto Rico. http://PartTimeJob.online/?user=395910
